Neighborhoods In The Blink Of An Eye: Miracle Mile

Neighborhoods In The Blink Of An Eye: Miracle Mile

Discover the amazing transformation from dirt road, to entertainment destination. Miracle Mile has seen quite the transformation over the past hundred years.

A century ago, in 1921, real estate developer A.W. Ross purchased a stretch of land along Wilshire Boulevard between La Brea and Fairfax Avenues. Being a visionary, he wanted to create a shopping destination away from Downtown. However, without railroads and other fast means of transportation, this idea appeared ludicrous even to his closest friends and allies.

It is awfully hard to imagine that an area full of oil wells and bean fields, with an airport in the middle of it, could one day become one of the biggest business and entertainment destinations of a growing town, but A.W. Ross persevered and in a matter of a few decades was able to turn his vision into reality.

Today Miracle Mile is known for its museums, galleries, business centers, and its housing developmental boom. With some historical architecture being redeveloped, there are new, boxy looking giants which are hated by local residents. However, there are still neighborhoods within Miracle Mile that are protected by preservationists, and that will always remain examples of the beautiful architecture that showed the world how gorgeous our city is.

Single Family Home Price Range: The Strategic location of Miracle Mile is simply amazing, allowing local residents to travel freely and quickly to the east and west, being within a comfortable driving distance from both Downtown and Beverly Hills. As a result of this geographic convenience, we have been seeing a boom of new construction in the area. You will be lucky to find a cute traditional style home for around the $1M mark. If you want to enjoy a new home in this neighborhood, you should be prepared to pay somewhere between three and four million dollars.

Condo Price Range: If you are looking for a conventional condo with a few bedrooms and bathrooms, suitable for several people to live comfortably, you might need to prepare yourself to pay somewhere between $700K and $1M. The Luxury condo market is pretty active here, with a fair amount of options above the $1M mark and the competition fierce. However, if you are balling out of control and want something flashy (willing to spend several million for a condo), your choices here would be limited, so it could be a good idea to discover what the neighboring West Hollywood and Beverly Hills areas have to offer.

Sincerely,
Oleg Korolov
